Monster Bash 2010 - The International Classic Monster Movie Conference and Film Festival

Monster Bash 2010 - The International Classic Monster Movie Conference and Film Festival
JUNE 25 - 27, 2010
Days Inn Conference Center
Butler, Pennsylvania (north of Pittsburgh)

The International Classic Monster Movie Conference and Film Festival - Celebrating the films of the silent era through the 1950s.

Presented by Scary Monsters Magazine and Creepy Classics Video & DVD!

What is the Monster Bash?

It’s a film festival. A place to meet the people in the movies, behind the movies and fellow fans of the movies. A series of events celebrating classic horror and science fiction films. And, a monster memorabilia shopping center.

The Monster Bash Movie Convention is even more. It’s a state of mind. A place, like Skull Island, where our imaginations were ignited and still burn behind our everyday jobs and life. The Bash is Forrest Ackerman’s classic monster magazine, the local TV Horror Host, the Aurora monster models, the monster toys of all shapes and plastics…. It’s a place when Halloween was eagerly awaited. It’s the horror and science fiction paperback collections, and most of all it is…the movies.

The Bash is an appreciation of these fun movies that we love to be entertained by. Whether it’s THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN or THE KILLER SHREWS, if you have fun watching it…that’s what it’s all about. A celebration of monster movies.

‘Smallville’ 9.06 Trailer: The Legendary Kiss

A new DC Comics character is coming to “Smallville” next week but the show chooses to promote another part of the episode which is deemed “legendary”. The CW packed a preview for the October 30 episode called “Crossfire” with the Clark and Lois saga that finally extends to a kiss.

According to the synopsis, Lois asks Clark to help her land a job as an on-air television host, but the two are shocked when the station wants to hire them as a team. Executive Producer Brian Peterson made time to address the Clois dynamics with Daemon’s TV explaining that Lois is still very much in love with the Red-Blue Blur although she is starting to see Clark in a different way.

He said, “…Lois’s Achilles heel is that she’s always had a hero complex and she always falls for the bad boy hero or the hero, but she always falls for the hero. But here in front of her is probably the best guy that she’s ever going to meet in her life. So over the course of the season she’s falling even harder for Clark while still having that kind of pang of interest and mystery in this guy called The Blur.”

Clois aside, “Crossfire” will also focus on the arrival of Speedy. The character who is apt in archery will be played by Elise Gatien. Oliver tries to help her while she’s still identified as the street girl named Mia to get out of her dangerous life by offering to train her. However, Mia double crosses him.

Living Dead Festival

LIVING DEAD FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 30 - 31, 2009
Evans City, Pennsylvania

The “Living Dead Festival”
celebrates Night of the Living Dead with screening, guests rom the film and gala. Organized by crew member Gary Streiner, it takes place in Evans City, Butler County, where the bulk of the original film was shot. It will be held Oct. 30 and 31, and features screenings of “Living Dead” and other films, memorabilia, and as many as 13 original members of the cast — zombies and otherwise.

“Night of the Living Dead” was a landmark of independent cinema, and was a major inspiration for many independent filmmakers that came after. Do-it-yourself filmmaking far outside the Hollywood system was not at all common at the time.

The low-budget, locally made nature of the film actually made it scarier — a slick Hollywood product would have looked completely different.

Spooky Movie 2009: The 4th Annual Washington D.C. International Horror Film Festival

FILMMAKER HERSCHELL GORDON LEWIS AND THE 45th ANNIVERSARY OF TWO THOUSAND MANIACS! TO OPEN THE 2009 SPOOKY MOVIE FILM FESTIVAL

THE 4th ANNUAL WASHINGTON, D.C.INTERNATIONAL HORROR FILM
FESTIVAL is proud to announce that the Opening Night event this year will be the 45th Anniversary Screening of one of the most influential and controversial films of the last half-century, Herschell Gordon Lewis’
TWO THOUSAND MANIACS!

Filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis will help introduce the film as well as provide a lively Q&A session following the screening (perhaps even leading a sing-along of his infamous opening titles song), at the American Film Institute’s AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, MD, on Wednesday, October 21 at 9:00 p.m.

“We are looking forward to our upcoming collaboration with the Spooky Movie festival,” said Todd Hitchcock, programmer for the AFI Silver Theatre. “And very excited about hosting the Opening Night screening of the cult classic TWO THOUSAND MANIACS! with Herschell Gordon Lewis attending!”

Former literature professor, Herschell Gordon Lewis, took inspiration from the 1947 Lerner and Loewe musical BRIGADOON when he set out to shoot (in less than 15 days on Florida locations that are now part of Disney World) the second installment of what would be known as “The Blood Trilogy.” Mayhem is
just below the surface at all times, as the twisted realities of violent and grisly revenge play out in what many consider to be one of the most significant independent horror films of the modern era, and one that still manages to shock and disturb audiences today.

“The reason I am delighted to appear at Spooky Movie,” said filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis “is that the event is a gathering of sophisticated moviegoers who don’t hesitate to provide candid opinions!”

Preceding TWO THOUSAND MANIACS! will be a preview for the 2009 festival, as well as the outstanding short film PSYCHO HILLBILLY CABIN MASSACRE!, which shows Mr. Lewis’ influence 45 years later with a new generation of independent filmmakers. Admission for Opening Night is $12.00 for the general public, or $9.00 for AFI members; tickets are now available at the AFI Silver box office, or through the website – www.afi.com/silver.

SPOOKY MOVIE: 2009 OPENING NIGHT begins a total of five days and nights showcasing some of the very best in the exciting and diverse culture of new independent horror cinema.
